MCP
Everything runs on your computer, in the app's own renderer: what an agent exports is exactly what you would export. There is no account, no key and no cloud, so nothing leaves your machine and nothing costs extra.
Switch it on
- Open MeltKit, then Help and about, and switch on MCP. The address appears underneath, usually
http://127.0.0.1:6358/mcp. - Add that address to your tool with one of the snippets below. The buttons next to the switch copy them for you.
- Keep MeltKit open while the agent works. The server runs only while the app does, with the switch on.
Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http meltkit http://127.0.0.1:6358/mcp
Cursor
In Cursor's MCP settings, or in .cursor/mcp.json in your project:
{
"mcpServers": {
"meltkit": { "url": "http://127.0.0.1:6358/mcp" }
}
}
What an agent can do
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| list_looks | The presets and your saved favorites, with their type, colours and effects. |
| get_look | The full JSON of a look. Every field can be changed and handed back. |
| make_look | A new look from a brief: colours or a harmony, the gradient type, motion, aspect, and any other field. |
| preview_look | A small picture of a look, so the agent can judge it. |
| export_image | A PNG or JPEG at any size up to 8K, written to a file. |
| export_video | One seamless loop as an MP4, up to 4K. |
| get_embed | Self-contained HTML, a React component or a CSS fallback that draws the look live. |
| show_look | Puts a look on your canvas, to carry on by hand. |
| save_look | Saves a look to your favorites. |
Try asking
- "Make a dark purple to orange flowing background for the hero of my site, animated, and give me the React component."
- "Export the Aura preset as a 4K wallpaper to my desktop."
- "Show me three calm variations of the look on my canvas and save the one with the most grain."
Any other agent, without a connection
Export > Agents in the app saves a small folder: the look, the HTML and React embeds, and a README written for the agent that explains how to place and adjust them. Drop it into your project and tell your assistant to use it. Copy on the same tab puts a complete handoff on the clipboard, embed included, for ChatGPT or any other chat; the agent fits it to whatever the project is built with. This gives an agent one finished look to place; making new looks is what the MCP server is for.
Good to know
The server listens on the loopback address only, so other computers cannot reach it, and it refuses requests from web pages. It needs an active license, like the rest of the app. If the usual port is taken, MeltKit moves up a few; the address under the switch is always the right one.
Web chat services such as ChatGPT or claude.ai cannot use it: they run in the cloud and only reach public addresses, never a program on your computer. Use Claude Code or Cursor instead.
